The David Moyes Thread - All In Here!

I'm realistic too mate.

I don't expect to splash the cash, win the league, get 4th or be in cup finals every year.

However, I do expect us to beat lower league teams in cup competitions at home, I do expect to beat sh*thouse local rival teams when we're the favourites to do so, I do expect us to take the Carling and F.A Cup seriously, and I DO expect a club like Everton not to be in 17th every pissing Christmas playing the most dogged anti-football you're likely to see outside of Stafford.

Not much to ask from the fourth most successful football club in English history, with a cracking (if thin) squad assembled by 3 time LMA greatest manager of all time David Moyes.

a season is a season - There's a saying about the league - "come what may in May" It's the only time your league position means anything. You can be top of the league from August until April, but if you're not there in May, then it counts for fuk all.

As for our derby record...Well, I'm not happy with it either, but most of the kopites I talk to, claim it is our cup-final. I'm beginning to see why they think that way, after reading what I've read.

I'm only young compared to some of you arl arses and I can only remember Everton under the management of Moyes and Walter Smith and it's fair to say things are a lot better now than they were then, hence why I'm a Moyes fan.

Having said that I'm in the camp of "who could we get in who's better?" at the moment. As mentioned above it would be disastrous if Moyes left and we ended up with someone like McLeish (god help us FFS) or Kenkunt tried to get the next Moyes, i.e. doing well in the lower leagues but still unproven, and it backfiring horribly.

If we played football from the start of the season like we do from January onwards it wouldn't be a problem... Sort it out Davey lad!

But what do I know, eh?

It's because, unlike them, we understand what a local rivalry is; To live in such a huge city with two huge clubs battling it out for bragging rights, of course I want my team to come out on top.

This is a team who sees Manchester United and Chelsea as their rivals, not because of locality/history...because they've said something nasty about Hillsborough and watched both teams outclass and outwin them over the past 20 years.

Anyway, it's not like we've got any other actual cup finals to possibly think about, just a home loss to Yeovil.

Moyes isn't perfect, but he is not the problem. There's lot of lids on here whom I like and respect a lot, but we just disagree on the Moyes thing. The board is the problem (I've come around to that line of thinking), but all in all I can't make Davey the scapegoat for not finishing higher. Literally everyone in the PL has a higher net spend than us. We still have a good squad, and I'm anxious to see what we can do with a full season of Jelavic upfront.

I don't mind people expressing their opinions at all, but I guess i'm just the eternal optimist...I go into every year thinking we can break through, and we nearly have many times since '04. But that's just me.

Fume away.

The 10 year period where we achieved [Poor language removed] all?

You think nothing has been achieved in 10 years? OK.

That doesn't make much sense, Bry.

You're basically saying he should be judged long-term, not short-term, but three years is a very long time.

Ever heard of a 30,60,90 day plan? Quite sure we fought relegation for a very long period before Moyes arrived, or are we forgetting that since we qualified for the CL once, and flirted with the UEFA for a while, and bought some of the brightest young players ( Baines, Felliani, Lescott ) in the country as well as his own personal achievements which gave him LMA awards. Which on the WHOLE is something he should be thanked for, not the ongoing crucifiction of losing to them lot, which yes is warranted THIS year, he got it wrong, but using it as a bat to destroy his credibility is getting on my nerves.

If it's getting tiresome then why on earth are you posting ? Unless you're some kind of masochist.

And what RFUS said.

I'm posting my opinion, if you don't like it, then don't post either. I can play school yard retorts too.

i can almost hear the collective gnashing of teeth here, i'm not saying he is bulletproof, he isn't. I think he deserves more respect than you give him.

I don't think Newcastle have a better squad than us, and they managed to be in and around the top 4 for a large part of last season. Nobody is expecting Champions League football, but the fans shouldn't be forced to sit through 4 of months of dreadful football against teams we should never be losing to. 4-1 West Brom at home anybody ?

Yes, like I said ...."5 out of six teams who finished above us"

Couldn't agree more.

What have Marston Road's finest ever done at you...!

It's sad the way so many seem to hate Moyes now. I think it's almost entirely a case of familiarity breeding contempt. If he'd only been here 3 years but managed and spoke in the press exactly as he does now everyone would be buzzing off him, just as we were 3 years into his tenure.

Solskjær would be a good shout, done very well at Molde and as worked under the best manager in the game so some things must of rubbed off on him?!.

I wouldnt mind Poyet either though, but he is a sihthouse for backing Suarez over the race row

He's done his stint at Everton. He did well steadying the ship. No one wants to see the man attacked if it can possibly be avoided. But he's defo in this now to take the piss. How on earth can he keep a straight face and say he's ambitious and wants to fulfill those ambitions at Everton? How? He cant in all honesty - ergo: he's taking the piss. He's playing the game with his bosses. He no doubt feels that trying to put a lasting squad together with those ****ing nobheads undermining him is impossible, but at the same time it's a tough gig to walk away from when someone is stuffing £3.5M into your account each year as long as you dont rock the boat.

I'm sorry but I dont buy Moyes anymore. The upright, no nonsense 'i'm in charge of team affairs' stuff I've seen through long since. He's just on the take and will continue to be on the take for years to come...and he'll be happy to do that as long as he gets a nice pat on the head every few months telling him how much he's doing Everton a favour and that he could have any job he wanted if it came up.

Solskjær is exactly the man I've been wanting at Everton to replace Moyes. To be fair though, I can just imagine SAF saying he's the next manager of Manchester United and having another decade like Moyes, waiting for him to go.
