Well at least one of our countries realized the far right (with a big assist from Putin) has mugged them off and decided to make their own sane decisions again.

Ha Ha Ha.

The Tories. What a gang of self-serving cut-throats. Knifing each other in the front and back now. "The natural party of government" pushing the country over the cliff. Lol.

The only reason they wont collapse themselves is because there's no Blairite LP waiting to take over and they're petrified of an old style statist Corbyn government doing things for people rather than the market...and we cant have that. No sir, we have to double down on hammering the serfs into the gutter.

It's a thing of beauty this though. Tory on Tory firefights and the body count mounting.

The Tories have an existential crisis mate. They have not won an election by more than 10 seats (so something approaching a workable government) in over 30 years. Everything they have done in that time has been continued short termism (with the brief exception of a period under Cameron/OSbourne) and has made the longer term viability more challenging. They are now basically the party of the old and the demographic crisis becomes more difficult with each year.

On top of all of that they have now got themselves on the wrong side of their key allies/backers. 99% of FTSE 100 companies wanted remain, the banks, the apparatus of the state, MI5/Mi6 etc. All the people they are meant to be a safe pair of hands for. They are left fighting on the wrong side of the equation for the first time since the corn laws.

The desperate attempts to rid Labour of Corbyn are exactly this. They want the B team to run the establishment for a bit but despite continued efforts it hasn't worked. The C team (Lib Dems) are nowhere to be seen. It's an absolute cluster*ck and people will be getting sever dressings down as a result.

One thing is certain though, none of the problems go away with Bojo in charge. OR Rees Mogg. The problems mount up for them.

The few smart Tories that exist knew that the Conservatives had become very much the Party of Brexit and their only chance was to ensure May made a success of it. They have well and truly screwed that plan up as well.

I think they are very close to the Liberal party of 1918 moment.

Absolutely nail on head. I bang on about the power of the Baby Boomers on tons of issues, and this is yet another example. And to add to their woes, the new generation they just cannot get traction with have never ever had the experience my generation did with the hopeless and chaotic politics of the mid 70s to leave them with a distrust of folk like Corbyn.

He is appealing to them, not right nor wrong, but true. Very interesting times.

A fine servant of the people - devoted to the service of the British people
Shocking eh? If one was serious about the Nation one should perform the duties of the day at least.
How much have the Spiv's damaged our National standing over the last few years?

Thanks mate. I think thats right and the Tory rhetoric seems to centre around this. If they would find a solution to housing costs they'd stand a chance. Instead what we get is platitudes and a desire to re fight the battles of the 70's. I remember May saying they needed to re affirm their commitment to the market and they had lost because they didn't extol the values of Thatcherism enough. They confuse disinterest as lack of opposition. Yes most young people are not vehemently against Thatcher, but they are un moved by that politics.

I have to say this as well, that a lot of Tory activists are very much their worst enemies in how they conduct themselves. In many ways I am probably quite a natural conservative voter. I have a good job, I am not against the market, I believe risk is good and people being entreprenerial is important. I own property. Yet I wouldn't go near voting for them, in no small part because all you ever get is insulted by them. They ought to reflect on that a little bit.

Civil war in the Tory party is in full flow and a beautiful sight to behold. Never known a July or August election but maybe after the October Brexit meeting when the EU yet again shows up the Tories for not knowing their backside from their elbows.

My lad, without sounding daft, is an articulate, independent thinker. Confident, (just returned from a Canadian tour with his band), good job, bright, has not one fleeting thought about her mate.

He voted Labour in the GE, and I asked him why. "Corbyn asked me, no one else did" was his reply.

He has many faults (I don't think he's a good leader, or certainly how I would advocate leading) but he is an excellent listener.

That being said they have made him the key weapon for Labour by the unfair, untrue and insulting way they continually attack him rather than his ideas. It didn't surprise me at all that when the personnel attacks came from Crosby the Tory campaign tanked. It was a massive own goal and I don't think they've even reflected enough to understand that. The British are a fair nation and if you continually attack someone unfairly, we do not like it.

Nobody in the press, Labour hearty or Conservative party have stopped to ask themselves why this leader has been able to reverse Labour's performance against not only the historical trend but also the entire experience of European social democracy. Rather than doing the hard yards of finding out what motivated people and competing for their votes they've denigrated them as workshy, lazy, terrorists (both IRA and Hamas), spongers etc. Is it any wonder they are pushing people away from them?

The exception to this was Cameron and Osbourne for about 5 years. They did a brilliant job and won lots of people over, and didn't just win but dominated the debate around the economy and peoples lives. However seemingly that was never enough for the Tory right, who wrecked from within.

In all my time I have never come accross a government who has so many people quit or be made to leave and still they carry on like everything is ok.

How much of the government that was elected in is left? It's getting ridiculous now.

We have got to the point with Conservatism in the UK, that you can work full time, yet have to be benefits to survive, also unable to buy a home in large swathes of the country etc. For anyone to let that continue deserves a right good political kicking, and much thanks to the self interest of commentators and media, who were only to keen to tell us how different Corbyn was to Blair, Jeremy stands well away from the new Labour era.

I think we might be in a period now (with the Tories bust and Corbyn as secure as he can be at the LP helm) where we see Corbyn edge toward institutional "respectability" on some issues. He's already turned his leadership toward being a champion for manufacturing capital and I reckon we'll see some softer approach towards policy sacred cows. Corbyn/McDonnell are within touching distance of No.10 and they are parliamentarians above all, not revolutionaries.
