I think @peteblue is a good guy to be honest.

Confusing why he's choosing to die on a Boris Johnson hill but the choice is his to make.

I only hope the rest of the population oust Johnson from power as soon as possible.
His politics tell me otherwise. He basically backs the U.K. Nazis.

Bet he hasn’t got the bottle to air the views he does on here on the streets of his home town.

My experiences of places I lived in the U.K. must be different to yours. Last town I lived in I was definitely in the minority. All chat in the boozers and shops was overtly pro Brexit and pro Tory.

I've posted before, I would enjoy meeting Pete for a chat and a few pints. I would enjoy the debate and trying to understand his motivation.

My best mate is an East Belfast loyalist, now living in Weston s-m and married to a lovely English lady - he has mellowed compared with when I first met him in 1987. We have remained great friends throughout those years including through the tension of Drumcree when he was delighted when the RUC forced the Orange march through, and Paisley and Trimble infamously skipped hand in hand in triumphalism.

I know he voted Remain, I think he votes Labour in GB, but he remains opposed to a united Ireland - fair enough.

In W S M? Crikey, he struck lucky,

TBH I thought he would never get married - he seemed to be a happy Bachelor. But he met Sue on holiday, they clicked, and afte a few years he moved within the Civil Service from Belfast to Bristol.

They got married in 2018. Sue has her own kids and grandkids from a previous marriage, and they are just a brilliant match

Thats lovely.

I am sure Sue is lovely, but being a Grandmother from WSM could place her anywhere north of 35! (joke).

Well she retired from a career of nursing last year, and I presume she worked 40 years (is that the UK requirement) to get full pension. She is thoroughly enjoying her retirement

I went early, after a really crap 5 years in November - I could have stayed on for another 8 years but I had lost the will and the enthusiasm. So I got an actuarily reduced pension and lump sum, but I am very happy.

My guess is she is around 59/60 as is Steve - he has another 2 years I think

Happiness/contentment is the thing mate. I took early retirement 2 years ago (55) to look after Nik, and although she is no longer with us, I am ok with how life is panning out. Weather helps mind.

Swerving back on topic, ish, I do feel sad at how the UK is going, post Brexit. But under the surface, most Brits are sound. We just have dreadful politicians.

Yes, I had read about your sad loss of Nik. I am so sorry for your loss. It is some consolation that you were able to give her your F/T attention - work is meaningless when a loved one is seriously ill.

Mrs BR went through C treatment including surgery from mid 2018 to end 2019. Thank God she came through, and is back at work. She has no intention of retiring!!

We welcome all nationalities and we pride ourselves that there is very little instance of racist incidents. We have no far right parties of any size.

But look at 2019

Gone from about 110,000 in 2011to 293,000 in 2019!!!

So you are finally admitting you support far right wing politics, corruption for the elite, Brexit ibeing nothing but a Tory sham and Johnson is a serial lying narcissistic thief.

Just so we know what we are dealing with here.

What a poor excuse for a human being.

No mate, you are merely displaying your non ability to look at both sides, and your lack of appreciation for those who try to behave in a civilised manner…but please carry on digging your hole…..

I think this is what that Thomasc guy doesn’t get. You and I have opposite opinions of our political landscape yet we keep it civil, without resorting to personal abuse. One day he may get it, but I won’t hold my breath…..
