What about NI?

I think my comment about Scotland was aimed more at Scottish politicians. But answering your question, I don’t think anyone would vote to get rid of NI, it’s a valued part of the U.K. But I do think that NI will work out its best future place in the world over time, be it as an Independent country, part of ROI or continue as a valued part of the U.K.…..

A United Ireland is (in my opinion, obviously) inevitable but it's nowhere near as close as some think. If they go for a border poll too soon, I don't think a majority would support it then it would be decades before another one. We'll also have to suffer the death throes of the dinosaurs. Our kids will sort it. They're not tainted/scarred like us old farts. I don't really care as long as the peace is maintained.

Absolutely. There is no rush and no need to force things ….

Mary Lou is too intelligent to rush into a Border Poll. She said maybe in the next 5 years. However, she will make sure she has the very best data available before holding such a poll.

Yes there are still too many dinosaurs stomping around. Donaldson is a busted flush and is a PITA.

Givan came across in an interview as more reasonable. We really need to see things moving on.

The Executive has little say in changing the Protocol - it is a matter for the EU and London.

TBH, seeing the UK already lowering its controls on food (radioactive anyone?) makes me more in favour of stringent controls on food coming onto the island.

I think Donaldson should concentrate on protecting NI citizens. I certainly don't want less regulated food coming freely down south and the EU will also be very concerned as once here it could go freely all over the EU.

Hartlepool confuses me a lot. Isn't the area extremely run down? How is voting Tory going to help them.
There was footage of a Hartlepool local during the GE bemoaning the fact that there were no food banks when Labour were in government, but he was happy because now under tory rule there were plenty. Hope this helps.

Really struggles that town, some nice coast round there though. Started with Brexit built largely on anti immigration and people have stuck with them. The ‘red wall’ is lost to Labour for a generation.
Blyth in Northumberland voted the tories in for the first time even after public spending cuts massively exasperated existing societal issues. Again, this was largely on the back of Brexit and an anti immigration ticket. People’s anger was purposely deflected and lapped up. Former industrial towns that have no real use once the industry has moved away.
