Meanwhile, the police finally deciding to investigate the parties is awfully convenient for the government

Convinced this is Police investigation is attempt to exonerate Boris be some minion that will cop the lot. And totally miss the point since the outrage isn’t really about illegality at all. It’s about moral failure, lack of empathy with the little people, doing the right thing and all those character traits which make him so unsuitable for any office, apart from David Brent office.

Why are people earning between 30-50k being hit the hardest by the NI increase? (As per today's Guardian)

Is there anything I'm missing here? Why shouldn't the highest earners be hit the hardest by this?

The Met have had 2 years to investigate this and have been asked to do so now. Why? I wonder what has been said by the police constables in their statements may have something to do with it. ie, " We were told from on high not to get involved."

No, it's just a way to buy time. It gives Johnson and the government the freedom to shut discussion down on the grounds that he's not going to discuss an active police investigation.

If they stall for a month or two, that's an eternity in politics in the era of the 24-hour news cycle, so they may be able to find a way out of the box. They would then bury Gray's report in the news cycle by releasing it on a Friday night.

NI goes down to 2% for a anything above £50k.
So as a % of wage. Those earning average to pretty well, are getting hit the most.

Well I'm not happy about that at all.

Seems the people in this category are propping up low earners whilst being trampled by fat cats.

Earn the most, pay the most, that's how it always should be.
