The Tories tackling the most pressing issues as always.
Am I right in thinking if it won't pass the lord's then they can't implement it into law?The Insidious crime bill was held up last night key elements remain in Parliament hands, The Tory's sense unrest brewing as inequality and poverty becomes key and readying to protect their lot.
Very telling that 100 Tory lords failed to turn up and vote last night thus surrendering the clear Tory House of lords majority.

I don't get this to be such a massive issue. If you haven't got photo ID then get some , as long as they gave us fair warning?
Plus you need photo ID for loads more than just voting, buying alcohol for example. It's not restricted to just voting, nobody is arsed that 1 in 10 cannot buy their white lightning.
I appreciate the idea sure, it would certainly target a particular class of people and that isn't those who would vote Tory. So I can see the issue. You've missed it completely. Tory voters will all have their driving licence in their wallets as they wander off to the polling booth. For the stereotypical single mother of three without a car and who doesnt even have a passport - it's one more factor to put her off.
Only in part, much of the core still remains in parliament hands, depends when detail was added, whether lords have final say and what goes back to parliament...You've missed it completely. We've had to have photographic ID for years in Northern Ireland. Think some sort of cheap and affordable alternative to a passport/driving license has to be considered.I appreciate the idea sure, it would certainly target a particular class of people and that isn't those who would vote Tory. However voting turnout for any election never mind the general election is never 100%. It's nowhere near it because people just aren't arsed to vote. If the no ID and can't be arsed to vote cross over then it's a none issue then? Guarantee you that scallies all over the city aren't rocking up to cast their vote ?
See what I mean? I know in principle what you are saying is right and therefore that is something in principle I disagree with also. But 1 in 10 means 90% have ID and we don't have 90% turnout , so whether you need it or not, that's a lot of people with it who don't vote anyway.
As posted earlier I went for a pint in a pub where I have been a customer for 32 years. As well as being asked for my vaccination certificate the goon, only working there a wet week, also wanted personal ID. That was to be allowed to buy a quiet pint! We've had to have photographic ID for years in Northern Ireland. You must look very young ? It's fun in your late fifties to act offended at the Tesco self-checkout when they don't even look at you when they swipe the wee card because your beer set the orangy light flashing. As posted earlier I went for a pint in a pub where I have been a customer for 32 years. For voting, to be clear. We've had to have photographic ID for years in Northern Ireland. Think some sort of cheap and affordable alternative to a passport/driving license has to be considered.
It costs 15 quid to get a national citizens card so it's not like paying for a passport. We've had to have photographic ID for years in Northern Ireland. Think some sort of cheap and affordable alternative to a passport/driving license has to be considered.
Think they can only throw it out three (?) times then it can still they can still pass it into law. Might be wrong. Long time since I covered this.Am I right in thinking if it won't pass the lord's then they can't implement it into law?
