Oh no, surely not. I expect every board of Directors, every senior management group in every business, government, public body and town hall also had some form of business meeting last Christmas, at which drinks and even food were supplied. I’m afraid that with everything else that’s going on, civil servants having a few drinks a year ago does not figure very highly on the angst list…or perhaps we should demand the resignation of the senior heads within the Civil Service……

I expect you're wrong and the majority of Christmas parties were cancelled as they were told to....by the ones having all the parties.

Of course lots of people had drinks pete, I’m sure they did but they aren’t in charge and shouting from the mountain what we should all do . “Lock yourselves up , stay in , shut your businesses “ then basically , literally not metaphorically laughing at everyone else. Lots of people take cocaine but a story about the Home Secretary or Cressida smashing a fifty bag is worthy of reporting and frankly serious comment and examination.

Someone I know lost their partner , not of covid , and between her and his grown up daughters they had to organise who went in to see him and when as he was dying . Because these same people imposed rules that restricted their access to someone they loved who was dying , you know because “we’re all in this together “ . At the same time its secret Santa , drinks and nibbles quick question pete , how angry do you think this woman feels right about now ? Let me help you if your struggling , its very and the laughing video didn’t go down particularly well. As it happens she’s a lovely person so she’s less angry than I’d be in a similar situation , she’s more sad .

Excuses are fine but the behaviour of those in power have been to treat others with contempt . I’ll not post here and say I’ve stuck by every rule because I’m not a liar and I haven’t but if you can’t see a difference between me and them then I give in. finally what’s gone on is bad enough but as always it’s the cover up , in this case the lies , that hits home and usually kills them and it looks like its happening again .

Can only speak for my company where I'm a senior manager but we didn't do anything of the sort.

Or maybe I just wasn't invited, I dunno lol

The NHS are still not permitting any parties this year, even in their own offices.
