No I’ll accept that certainly to an extent , which is why I used the phrase ‘your team ‘ earlier as across the board . I think we all have to see faults , a degree of loyalty is understandable but this latest stuff epitomises the insanity of it .

The epitome for me is people denying biological reality to state trans people are literally the sex they identify as.

That's mentally compartmentalising your brain into ignoring literal scientific fact so as to support the tribe.

But yes, this is another example of it, but I was just stressing it's really not unique to one 'side' - there's a substantial growing number of mentalists on both.

Unlike Boris, I’ll be honest, I sometimes do it just to break up the group think in one or two threads. If there was anything like a spread of opinions it would be great, but tbh with a few exceptions there isn’t. There has always been some form of tribalism in politics and political debate, but Scotland in or out, Brexit in or out, formed new groupings which saw the Tories tearing themselves apart, families at ‘war’…it’s gone crazy…..

My fear is they'll throw Boris under a bus and put Dishy Rishi in charge with plenty of time to prepare for the next general election and it'll all be forgotten about.

As a Labour man I hope they do. Rishi is cardboard in a public setting and will be terrible. He'll also go down like a bag of sick with the worst elements of the Tory party who are often the hardest grafters and/or biggest donors.

A democracy only functions when the executive has the decency to cede power when they are quite clearly unfit to continue in the role.

What we have here, with Johnson refusing to take responsibility and 'fall on his sword' over this (and about a dozen other things) is effectively an authoritarian dictatorship, where the rules don't apply to the ruling class, even moreso than usual.

It really is a scandal he's still in position.
