It's just so very cruel how he's not allowed to take money off private businesses to affect the course of government. We should all feel very sorry for him. We all caused his wife to die after all. Monsters we are.

... what an absolute weapon.

Links to PCRs test and one the companies paying Patterson to do its bidding!

Wider note from a former Tory whip...

They don't look like bloody idiots; they are bloody idiots.

If they had a modicum of decency and public service about them, they flat out say no to that last night.

I can't imagine being that morally bereft.
Think its sheer arrogance myself...

They believe its its their right to behave this way, he will honestly think nothing wrong about his actions. Put a few hundred quid in the church collection once a month so or whatever charity and conscience clean. They like to call it "philanthropy".

They have only u turned because opposition have not played ball and I reckon deluge of constituents have been busy contacting their Tory MPs.

There should be more questions being asked of the government for requesting them vote for it , the same government that brushed other scandals including the health secretary under the carpet. A government , or prime minister that keeps asking for it should be questioned.

Also, they could have not voted for it , there is that minor inconvenience to it.

Honestly starting to wonder if they just chance their arm and have NotCambridge Analytical monitor the fallen Red Wall constituencies and U Turn if it looks bad. Makes more sense that believing they could be as idiotic as they seem! A parcel of rogues!!!

That's the sole reason. Politically, they'd be setting up the appeal process alone, which is untenable, and publicly you had Paterson go to the media and say he had no regrets and he was right, which, again, is politically untenable.

But the mad thing is how they thought it'd go any other way?

Not really taken much notice of all this tbh and if the guy is guilty then he should pay the price. However getting past the various political stances, which all seem to follow party lines, one thing that did strike me as odd the other day was John Bercow declaring that he too felt that the process had been unfair. Now while I little time for Bercow, it did make me wonder why he would come out and say this. He knows he has blown it with the Tories, and has been creeping around Labour for a while now. So while I still think he’s a cretin, he more than most does understand process. A strange one……

Not sure it has been along party lines at all. I don't think they would have U-turned without Tory outrage and the fact that they were going to use a Tory heavy group to resolve it must ring alarm bells for anyone, regardless of affiliation.

Trying to imagine it from his perspective - he’s probably feeling a bit miffed that lots of people in his party have been milking their positions for personal gain yet he’s the one who gets nailed.
