I doubt anybody - least of all his family, friends and colleagues - give a damn whether you shed any tears. I certainly don't.

However, I do have a problem with you implying that you’re some kind of moral arbiter by declaring that others shouldn't mourn his loss, all because you happen to disagree with his politics.

There's disagreeing with politics and then there's being affected by the way he and his ilk voted and forming a negative opinion based on that lived experience.

As a society we all need to think long and hard about how we all talk to and about each other, especially those we disagree with and/or dislike. The rhetoric on all sides is absolutely disgusting at times
Twitter is still bad, but I remember the days when all you’d see are death threats and the like filling up timelines. It doesn’t matter which side you represent- it isn’t acceptable. It needs to stop. It only justifies the government more to take away what freedoms we have left.

That's literally disagreeing with his politics, though, isn't it? We're all effected by every single politician in one way or another.

Disagree with him all you like. But your opinion is no more worthy than anybody else's, so in future, don't try and tell people who they can and cannot mourn. You're really not that important.

What a shocking demise. Amess's grin will forever be etched in my memory during that 1992 election night where he held the Basildon seat and signaled that the Tories had done far better than anyone suspected.

Condolences to his family. Whatever his politics he was clearly a devoted husband and family man.

The man just had a different view as to how society should be ran.

In no way did he deserve what’s happened to him whilst he was carrying out his duty as an MP.

If you look at his voting record then you will see that the man was a bigot.

The man voted in favour of making life hellish difficult for marginalised groups, one of which I am a part of. This isn't just a disagreement about economic policy as some seen keen to equate to ffs.

Oh, that makes it ok then.

Hope the judge knows about this fellas voting record so whoever stabbed him can get off with it.

To play devil's advocate (and to make it somewhat relatable to heteros) would you say someone like Oswald Mosley would not have deserved a similar fate? He just held a different view on how society should be ran after all...

Normally I'd agree however this bloke voted in favour of making life harder for the most marginalised in society and that's why I'm not shedding any tears.
Politics, voting history and tears aside, it surely doesn't take a great deal of thought to see that anything other than total condemnation just enables anyone with a differing opinion to justify murdering someone. It's awful! It's a human being with a family, it's an attack on democracy. No one is asking you to cry. A simple condemnation would suffice .... or say nothing at all. Seriously?....point scoring at a time like this?

And that gives you the right to tell others who they can and cannot mourn, does it?

You're seriously embarrassing yourself here. Please quit while you're behind.

Reading and watching articles about how an actual bigot who decided to vote in a way intended to make life miserable for the most marginialised didn't deserve to meet his end is a bit grating. That's all.

You decided to reply to my original post btw so ?‍♂️

This is a bit simplistic and could be applied to various episodes throughout history.
