Think its always been the case for Tory govts and im sure someone will no doubt chime in with Labour as well.
The difference with this lot is they seem to believe that resignation in such circumstances, is optional.

Currently there's a few scandals in German politics of similar ilk: our Health Minister (CDU) awarding pricey pointless contracts to his mates and/or donors during the pandemic, while buying himself a villa-mansion worth several million euros.

I don't think sleaze is a Tory thing, I think it's a politician thing.
