Yes there was Pete, there is an annual 30k allowance that was used.

The Blairs (and the Camerons) wanted to spend more than the allowance and did so out of their own pockets.

If Boris had done the same there would be little issue, apart from obviously the optics of lavish spending when many were suffering. However it very much appears like he got an interest free loan that was not declared.

As you know, I've been extremely critical of Czech's performance on this, but I shared the most directly comparable countries to the UK in terms of size and wealth. The vaccinations are important for sure, but they are ultimately designed to lower the health impact of Covid and allow us to return to some form of normality. They're a means to an end, not the end in itself.

I mean maybe before we had any kind of vaccination programme you can point to statements you made that were critical of your boy? I get that's the crutch you're leaning on now, but you were still a blind advocate for Johnson even before then.

Almost certainly, but until proven...I just cba about wallpaper when his focus needs to be on Covid, the economy, and running the country. All that’s happening at the moment is that the anti Boris factions are running with faux outrage about a statement he probably said but they can’t prove, a link with Dyson that has been ripped apart and wallpapering his flat...

Meanwhile the same people said nothing about Sexual harassment and the misuse of £500,000 of wasted government funding in Scotland, the absolute ongoing shambles of the EU and its vaccination programmes, the denigration of AZ...things that really matter.......

Well you did purposely miss out Italy. In terms of an advocate of Boris, I was before and I still am now. He’s the right man for the job. I’ve asked repeatedly on here for people to name another politician who could have achieved what he has done, and am still waiting.....

Because I don't regard Italy as being as close to the UK as France and Germany. Of course, you may also argue that Germany is so far ahead that they're not directly comparable with us either.

As for who could do a better job, that's a straw man argument as no one here is really in a position to judge, especially as a great many perfectly suitable candidates are going to be unknown to most of us. That doesn't stop people having an opinion on whether the current holder of the position is any good though as his capabilities are on full display.

Perhaps then Johnson should have waited until all of those had passed before he spent thousands of pounds on a remodel - they are always distracting even when you aren’t trying to scrounge up money from others.

And these things, whoever does them, are always news irrespective of what else is going on in the world as spending gross amounts on wallpaper is one of the few things a divided country can unite on! I still lived in the UK at the time and remember the many column inches when Cherie Blair spend 70 quid on hers!

Uk also initially had two huge advantages on Italy - an island that could easily seal borders and about a month head start on community spread.

Him and his party have killed thousands over the last ten years.
The UK has the highest death rate per million in Europe
Even Corbyn would not have caused the death of 150,000

Add to that the the theft and cronyism and it’s a mockery of uk politics

every time it hits the fan, he just ignores it until it goes away
my main anger is for those that fall for it
