Financial common sense would dictate to most people that if they were residing in a rented property where they might only be there for a further 4 years that spending 58K on it is foolish...

How many voters are in a position to spend the equivalent of 14.5K per year on a property they rent... Plays very badly.

Too many politicians, of all parties, own properties... just to rent out. They have a vested interest... No politician, of any party, should be allowed to vote for a policy that benefits them personally.

SOmething stinks here and it will bite them soon, hard
I think if it does it will because, as often is the case “the cover up is worse than the crime”

Spening 30k of taxpayer funds on new furnishings because Theresa May’s John Lewis picks weren’t posh enough isn’t great messaging for a “man of the people”, especially during a pandemic when many others are struggling financially. That the 30k wasn’t enough so you need to borrow thousands more interest free makes it even more awkward but still probably survivable for someone as Teflon as Boris.

But if rather than just facing the above bad press you try and hide it by not following reporting rules that were put in to avoid bribery and don’t report the transactions from the tax man.... well that becomes significantly harder to sweep under the carpet.

I presume they are prolonging it as they are trying to come up with an excuse for why he blatantly went against ministerial code (assuming he did of course).

It would be both hilarious and depressing if what finally brought him down was dodgy finances over a flat refurbishment. As a friend said to me earlier, it's a bit like finally getting Al Capone for tax evasion.

Omg we have left & your still banging on about that .......just tell me would we have had a great vaccination programme linked to the EU ? Answers on a postage stamp - NO - the talking shop of the EU delayed vaccinations, threatened other countries to abide by their slowness in decision making .....
That's why the democratic vote had to be upheld .......give it a few years we will settle down into a prosperous UK .......they are still just being vindictive......end of the EU .......

I look forward to it coming out
Keep an eye on this lot they have a good handle on the greedy little Tory piggys as they pursue them in courts. You will at least be couple a days ahead of the chattering news cycle.
