The big hate filled Tory bully again undermining the efforts of footballers who simply want equality. Rashford to step up and put them back in their place once more?
The closet racist gammon heads in the comments though...
What a self-regarding tool.
In the teeth of a catastrophe (which his policies exacerbated), and this is what he chooses to post about.
‘Freedom of speech and freedom of assembly’
‘Cool, I’d like to talk about how Britain has had some shadiness in its past, and I’d rather not invite people I class as bigots to speak at my club’
‘Oh no, you’ll get fined if you do that’
When will people see if there is any culture war going on it is from the right? They are in power, they control the institutions, the create this situation.
Not liking some statues or thinking 1970s sitcom racism should come with a warning is not the same as what the Tories and their willing centrist serfs want to do.
Come on, he was only the sixth Chancellor ever to have gone to his school, how could he ever have expected to overcome those odds

Cancelling or banning people from speaking at a university as they have views you disagree with is something out of a postmodern novel, like beyond irony - a contradiction in terms of what the word university means. It's a scrub loser mentality that has to be faced up to - clearly the idea of actually handing out fines is not serious, it's more a signal to university administration to be less indulgent of the junior thought police.
tbf the most egregious example of this in the UK (Germaine Greer) was stood up to by the university VC at Cardiff - she gave her talk there IIRC.
Yes that's probably true, it's not a huge deal in practice here. It also reeks of jarg - in that it's not something that has grown genuinely at a grassroots level in UK campuses, rather it's a cultural import from the US. It is so repellent, however, that it doesn't hurt to spell out a clear position. The fact you’re mentioning an event from
6 years ago that still went ahead suggests that this isn’t the large scourge it’s reported to be?
Student Unions are welcome to choose who they want to speak at their events and who they think don’t require a platform to promote views they disagree with. Maybe they could invite more people they disagree with, maybe they already do, maybe it’s not as big a deal as it’s made out to be.
