Government ministers in the past have resigned for less...what a grade A tool is Hancock.

This is one of the big things about this government - the genuine inability or unwillingness to take any form of responsibility. Unfortunately we see by the comments of a few on here that they will still get the votes of those who see them as born to rule.

No fan of Morgan, but this is a stone cold slaying of Hancock.

Huge problem with our politicians generally, is they’re incapable of saying “you know what, I got it wrong”.

What a snivelling sh*t that Hancock is.

He'd have been better off just saying "I regret it, and I was wrong", but it seems politicians are pathologically incapable of admitting any wrongdoing.

The one on the right is an absolute joke.

Having said that, if the one on the left is an example of providing for 1 week (presumably 5 days) of lunches for 1 child, then it won't be long before Wales has a very serious obesity problem with children on school meals.

I suspect that this food package is perhaps meant for 2, or perhaps even 3 children. That's if it is actually even an example of a free school meal parcel in the first place.

Where did you source this material from.? or is it something you just threw together yourself?
Yeah, just make shizz up my man.

We live in a post Trumpian era now. All they do it wait it out and apathy kicks in. Shameless.

The one on the right is more or less Westminster Government guidelines. And the Tories are only sorry because they have been found out.
Yeah I saw PMQs this morning. Pretty sure Johnson was gobsmacked when Starmer read out the list from the Govt website. It was clear he didn't have a clue it even existed. lol

Truth is Starmer pulled a fast one on him there and Johnson completely fell for it. I mean, he's a lawyer FFS so he always tells the truth. Doesn't he?

The government website on the matter is actually quite informative. The suggested food parcel list in question is reasonably comprehensive and adequate to provide 5 healthy balanced meals. The fact that things like cucumber, packet of cherry tomatoes, packet of sliced meat, tin of tuna, 6 eggs, 500g carton of low fat yoghurt and litre of milk came under the throwaway remark "one or two other things like a tin of sweetcorn" is totally irrelevant isn't it? Yes?

Brilliant stunt by Starmer though. Definitely the winner in the PMQs today.

One other interesting piece of information on the website is that it is the actual schools that have been tasked with organising the free meals during lockdown. They have various options, one of which is to use their existing school catering team or food provider to prepare lunch parcels. If I was on the board of governors at the school that provided that food parcel above, I'd seriously be reconsidering who our school caterers are going forward, and I'd also be asking questions over how the school had allowed such a poor sample to be delivered to one, or more, of their students.

Just to be clear, the schools have full autonomy over this. They can continue to provide food on a daily basis (which some still do much to their credit). They can provide vouchers for local shops or supermarkets. Once the National Voucher Scheme is back on line (sometime this week), they can start using that again. Or they can provide food parcels (for which they receive an additional allowance by the way), but they have full control over who they use for that service.

How do I know. It's just 2 photo's side by side. Could have come from anywhere.

I'd be interested to know who is trying to make out that the picture on the left is what the Welsh government are providing for 5 days lunch supplies for one person. You posted it so I'm asking you.

Is that unfair of me?

So I was right. It was to feed 3 children.

You were quite happy to put it out there as a like for like comparison though.

Doesn't detract from how poor the second parcel was though which is the main issue here. Somebody is making a killing out of this. Not sure how accurate that article was. It says that the parcel was 10 days supply. I suspect it was only 5 but if it was 10 then it's even more disgusting.

Schools are given an allowance of £3 per day per child for school lunches so that's £15 for the week. They are given an extra allowance of £3.50 pw if they are providing food parcels during lockdown. So each child has a budget of £18.50 to cover 5 lunches. I reckon that lot, considering it was probably bought bulk wholesale couldn't have cost more than say £3 max. Who's pocketing the money?

I believe that that the ten days comes from the mother that posted the image as it was allegedly for two, but apparently that was claimed to be a mistake by the company...although it has been stated that lots more English parents posted up similar images yesterday.

A Tory donor.
