Tories have arranged this so their mates or families companies will profit from this railway big time. Creaming off the tax payers again.

Just as cummings whose wifes family owns a castle persuaded the idiots that brexit was anti establishment.

And how much will a ticket be?

And how many people do or want to travel from Birmingham to London everyday?

An increasing number of people are able to work from home now and more so in 10 years time.

This railway is simply a scam for Tories and their donors to collect tax payers cash.

Can I request that the people of wales should be exempt from paying any tax towards this as doesn’t cross any border into Wales at any point ? I would prefer my tax money was put toward building a decent road that connects the north of my country to the south of it before being forced to pay for a Tory vanity project.

They should sort the M4 out around Newport before that. The north link road is pretty sound though. But I struggle to see massive demand for a north/south link road if I am honest. Wrexham to Cardiff is pretty straight forward with the existing motorway and A road links. Until you get to Newport that is.

The drive from here to Cardiff is abysmal... the roads are awful.... 5 hours at a push to reach Cardiff from here. It’s 200 miles.

Bye bye northern power house, you've missed the train it's now somewhere between Birmingham and London, next one and it's only a maybe, will be in the revised timetable in the 2030s.

I'm not in favour of HS2 myself as I just see it as a further drain of resources down to London rather than the other way around.

Funnily enough, the Labour mayors in Merseyside, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield are all hugely in favour of it. Why do you think that is?. I'd have thought it would have been better to get the Northern infra structure in first and then look at links north to south.

You live on the island I cant spell iirc. Yeah, that would be 5 hour job. But is the demand for frequent north/south travel actually there?

Wales mirrors England in as much that it is very south centric. The north of wales remains one of the most economically underfunded regions in the whole of the uk. The fact that I can get to London quicker than I can get to Cardiff ( discounting flying) is shocking.

HS2 will have no benefit for wales at all, having to pay towards it is disgusting.
I agree with that mate. I live down in Cornwall and it's pretty much the same down here.

We need to find a way to get some of the business out of London and into all other parts of Britain, not just the north of England. It isn't just infra structure that's needed but it will do as starters.

Trouble is, its also breathtakingly beautiful. I had cause to spend a few days up there on business years ago, and took the A road through to Shrewsbury (iirc) as the return route. Just wow. Some places are too great to lob motorways on.

Is there a west Wales north/south train link? If that makes sense. Been to Abergevenny (sic) a few times on business, and I cant recall the train being an option. With the university and National Museum, (which is sound), it would be odd is there wasnt.
