Turkeys vote for Christmas and don't complain about the oven being too hot...

NHS medical director Prof Stephen Powis said it had been a "very busy" period, compounded by an earlier outbreak of flu than had happened in previous winters.

So an increase in demand is the governments fault?

Had conversation with someone Monday, Brexiteer and voted Tory, I've heard their mullings every week since April... The conversation was get Brexit done, get money back and stop people coming to the UK. Then went on to describe the terrible wait in getting an NHS appointment staff shortages and how its being managed, as i was in work role I gently guided them to December 12th, and maybe ask the electorate the 44% that voted Tory... The mouth just opened with a vacant stare.
The serfs think you can have your cake and eat it. Brexit and extra spending.

Utter mugs. They'll inevitably start bleating about the way the country's run in 18 months time - or sooner.

I hope they get what they voted for. I hope it's them who suffer the most.

Being unable to manage or even recognise increase of demand, yes very much so the fault of Government.

With the NHS, it's very much not, as they are largely independent. NHS England is the preserve of Simon Stevens, and obviously each trust has their own management who are responsible for day to day operations. The minister for health (is it still Hancock?) doesn't actually do a great deal.

That's half the reason behind Cummin's memo about looking for weirdos and eccentrics, because he knows that the civil service are largely responsible for what gets done (or not), with the minister largely a lightning rod. It's not for nothing that Yes Minister was lauded for its accuracy.

Civil service has been heavily politicised since those days mate.....I've seen it in action.....surprised you haven't noticed.

Quite possibly, but the NHS England budget for this year was fixed and agreed upon some time ago, after which its operation is down to the trusts and NHS England. Matt Hancock doesn't really do much.

Wriggle all day long, it's the Government that sets how the NHS is financed/managed and assessed. And if the NHS is largely independent, why did Johnson make the NHS such a big election issue. 40 new hospitals, £34 billion extra per year by parliament end, NHS Visa. 50000 new nurses, 6000 doctors, so much independence, more like direct management.

Labour got criticised for not sacrificing some of their core principles to make themselves electable whilst the tories wolf whistled the far right to get in power.
I’d rather stand by my principles than share a bed with these racist morons. The further pandering to the far right will have devastating consequences.
Labour don't do racism oh wait.

Only the second party after the bnp for being investigated for anti semetic remarks, by the way there's loads of labours MP's that did it openly.

You believe Johnson all of a sudden? It's all smoke and mirrors.
