Can you imagine the horror of a bunch of Polish people coming to the UK and, you know, integrating into society. In Chicago, where I grew up, we are still suffering the horrors of the Polish community with all their food, labor, and, good citizenry.
I find it strange that when someone criticises a politician in regards to their record on immigration that people suggest, in response, that this is an indication that you have a hatred of immigrants. Heaven forbid politicians and political parties should be held accountable for their records in government.

For their record of keeping people you regard negatively out of the country? In a non racist way of course.

"Racism of any kind has no place in football or anywhere else and we must confront this vile behaviour," said a Downing Street spokesperson.

But it's alright if that scum describe black kids as piccaninnies.

Why would you want to keep out people you view positively?
There may be many reasons why people may oppose immigration. An example would be to prevent the lowering of standards within an industry due to an oversupply of labour. Oversupply can lead to increased competition among the workforce and therefore less favourable contractual terms and conditions for employees. New entrants to the labour market may be less qualified than existing employees and have poorer skills (not speaking English and communicating effectively for example), yet they may be willing to perform that same job for a lower salary (driving down wages), agree to insecure working terms and conditions (zero hours contracts for example) and even accept declining working safety standards. Immigration can also push up house prices, concentrate demands on public services and infrastructure etc etc: arguments that I suspect you are well aware of.

However, I don't know of any country or any person that wishes to practice a keep-out policy as you suggested.

There's no real evidence of any of that happening, and certainly not among the uncontrolled immigrants as opposed to those we 'control'.

Bruce, any business, farming or whatever will always recruit the person demanding the least amount of money, which then drives down wages for the rest. Don’t kid yourself that it doesn’t happen....

Tories will get 2 terms with ease.

Some issues to address here
1) the Labour party agreed to a referendum in their 2005 party manifesto but then never did it

2)UK is the most tolerent country in the EU, which is why it's number one on the list to migrate to.

3) the EU has had its problems from the bailouts to the refugee crisis.

4)Blair's decision not to impose immigration laws when the 8 countries that joined in 2004, the influx was huge and the country couldn't handle that many people at once.

Johnson now goes to the EU with a no deal in one hand and no more extensions. It's leverage and he has them by the footballs.
He could get a decent deal here and the EU could end up with a poorer one, but hey ho.

The UK can under cut deals EU offers, Alsop p in mm
