From what I understand, the security services had/have a pretty robust system in place for ensuring just that.

But thats the point. If a Chinese company are involved in this 5G thing, the suspicion will be that they have, or at least, might have, lobbed some worm or virus or back door gizmo into the system somehow.

Merica have already raised questions about intel sharing.

And yeah, I do see how I might be coming over all things Trump/Brexiteer

This might be a very silly question, knowing nowt about tech and that.

But why would we even consider letting a foreign country, outside of NATO, to be involved in building a pretty important part of our communication system?

Just seems a daft thing to do to me.

We have them building nuclear power stations, 5g is the least of our worries.

They are not. It is a disgrace that Gordon Brown trashed our own telecoms companies with his 3G licenses grab and allowed a Chinese company to infiltrate a strategic asset.

It doesn’t matter how clever people think they are, back door openings within software or firmware can always be put in place and we are vulnerable by their participation. The Defence Secretary was a prat and not up to the job, but if it was him who leaked this then perhaps it was for the right reason, even though I abhor breaches of confidentiality.

I’d like to see him come out and say that it is a national disgrace that the U.K. can no longer build its own telecommunications networks.......

British Telecommunications was state owned before it was sold off and re-named BT as well, I believe.

If the defense secretary for the country is being kicked out now for these sorts of accusations then it makes a complete joke of a government surely? the PM can't deliver brexit no matter how much she wastes time, people walk out, others kicked out, the foreign Secretary (mark4 now is it?) is absolutely hated due to poor health secretary performance and now finally the man in charge of country defense from a political aspect is kicked out!

When does this all stop?
