Oh those poor Tories, never having been allowed a crack at the whip despite winning 4 elections (comment lifted from ConsHome, nobody on here I'd hope):

So to summarise, you can't blame the Tories for anything!

2010-2015: The Tories had to kowtow to their Lib Dem coalition masters
2016: There just happened to be this distracting Brexit referendum malarky - who could have seen that coming?
2016-2019: The 'Remainer blob' were in charge, so those Tories were thwarted again from running the country
2019: Boris wins big and gets to be World King for a few months. The people rejoice!
2020-2022: That darn Covid getting in the way and stopping the Tories making any decision again
2022-2024: The Ukraine war! You guessed it, the Tories stymied again

Other governments apparently get to rule without being affected by world events or their own brash stupidity, so seems it's unfair the Tories should have to govern within reality.
What's the source for that absolutely cursed nonsense take in the quotation box in your post?

I'm sure it's been said in here already, but Sunak made a point of saying "I went to all the UK based D-Day commemorations" when being challenged on this

I think he thought that he'd get a pat on the back for "sticking it to the EU and Biden" by not staying, but didn't realise that this is a topic where most people aren't as anti-Europe or anti-American. Those folks fought along side us, and died along side us, in the quest to liberate Europe from the clutches of the Nazi's. This is the one day of the year where even most of the right wing flag shaggers are happy to stand alongside with people from other countries, because we really were all in it together and really were fighting something worth fighting

He's badly misjudged the reaction, and is either poorly advised or an outright buffoon

Sure, I wasn't trying to imply that.

It just left me gobsmacked and I wanted to read it from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

I also didn't mean to suggest it was an accusation. It was more of a "Yep, there are actually people that write this stuff out" line.

Although the thing is, I have no idea how many people just troll that site with OTT comments for likes and replies.

Probably both.

I've done that for years on the Everton only forum with fake John Aldridge and Derek McGovern comments for the LOL's.

ConservativeHome, which is pretty tuned in to CCHQ, has been largely silent for a few days. Their "ToryDiary" spin guy, who updates daily and has been running a solid defence of Sunak, seems to have gone AWOL since D-Day.
