Good move by MPs, although many Tories are in open revolt about. Not only now align themselves many other work environments us mere mortals work in. MPs are in positions of power and influence which they could influence any investigations.

“We’re all going to be banned from the estate now” is a wild thing to message when the only reason they’d be banned would be if they were charged of assault or sexual assault

Honestly it’s a terrible piece of legislation that could easily be abused, and almost certainly will be. Simply being arrested is not enough given that (for rapes especially) the person may be on bail for months whilst the allegations are investigated.

No one should be excluded from representing the people in the Commons by default just because they have been arrested; it should only be after charge or after a proper and fair risk assessment by the Speaker.

Or to put it another way, imagine that an MP is home one night when a burglar breaks in. There is a scuffle that ends up in the street outside, the the burglar is knocked to the ground and dies. Because it’s not clear that night what has happened, the first officers on scene arrest the MP on suspicion of murder. That MP is, according to this, now banned until an independent panel “clears” them.

Policies that have been proven not to work over generations, guided by their own squeamishness and misplaced sense of "morality".

Better that they find out about these things from their mates and the internet, right?
Well said, more pathetic moves by the anti-science party. Educational changes that are not based on academic research, teachers unions or any level of advice that will help children. Just policies that they hope in a scattergun manner that will appeal to some bigoted bellend on the street who reads headlines in the mail and might vote for them.

Dear teresa may, hurry up and die.

DNA requests are common across the home office to establish relationship to parents, so caseworkers know what segmentation the application comes under.

I understand and sympathise with the Windrush victims, but this will most likely be a simple casework error and nothing sinister.

One would hope, with such a sensitive ordeal already made so much worse, that cases associated with the Windrush set of crimes would be checked, double checked and triple checked to minimise any further needless suffering.

politicslive on bbc2 now.

tory trout rachel maclean has managed to blame the ongoing prisons fiasco on..... covid. Apparently it's all been turned around since 2021 and everything is better than great.

Get rid of these gobspites*!

Additional, Sadiq Khan now to blame for the housing crisis. And why not, it's clearly never the tories.

There's a whole department dedicated to Windrush who have helped thousands of people.

Stuff like this is always overblown. It will be a simple case of one person behind a computer sending out a request to help work an application.

DNA requests are sent to people across all nationalities.

Forgive me, what I see is the blood scandal delayed (and no one even named as responsible on the US end), I see the infamous (late) triple apology from cameron, I see the post office scandal criminally actively prolonged, I see the Windrush scandal dragged out, I see the many problems around covid hardly touched (parties aside, enforcements, frauds, loans written off, there's more).

I see an atmosphere of acceptance and enablement from the current government that has managed to mangle and murder every aspect of modern britain.

There's no excuses left, regardless of how innocent or otherwise mistakes are now made. Time's up!
