There is absolutely no doubt that the growing number of right-wing views amongst young men is heavily attributed to the likes of Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson. The market has been created and it's just a money train now. It's easy enough to get on board if you say the right things. They've tapped in to the idea that young men (rightly or wrongly), feel they have been forgotten about in society. These grifters have taken full advantage and weaponised it for their personal gain.

I used to follow a guy on Instagram called Joey Swole. Initially, he was calling out women who'd posted videos of men 'staring' at them whilst in the gym. After a few weeks I started to notice a pattern where he'd thrash the woman for posting the video but would gloss over the fact that the man was indeed being overbearing and/or in the women's personal space without good reason. It became clear he was in it for the grift, and it started off a narrative of "girls wear nothing in the gym to make gym creep videos for Tik Tok videos".

I think social media has made a lot of men resent women and the attention they get. They often peddle the idea that (particularly attractive) women have it easy in life. The #MeToo movement where it turned out women didn't like their arses being randomly smacked (not to trivialise the matter) really upset people. Intimidation was a tactic used by so many men for so long and they don't know any other way.

This is just an observation and not an opinion of mine, but I have noticed a growing trend in that more and more young men aren't even attempting to date, and it's one of many factors of a declining birth rate. Many feel that dating apps have elevated women's 'worth', and men feel like they have to put in a disproportional amount of effort only to be ignored. Women now 'expect too much', and a lot of men feel like marriage and children is a huge risk which could ruin them if it fails. Rightly or wrongly, women are generally treated more favourably by courts if in the case of a divorce.

We've all been rejected by women (or men), but until relatively recently we didn't have worldwide chat rooms and forums to discuss it all. These, unfortunately, are the places where echo chambers form. People try to outdo each other with shock value and to compete for the same bit of air. People can only consume so much content, so it's a constant fight.

I hope this came across the way I intended. It's an absolute mess. I can only see society getting worse before it gets better.

They are rotten grifters to a man, but I would say this. They are exploiting something that does have a shred of truth to it. There was a huge amount of social rebalancing that needed to happen to rightfully secure women's place in society, correct male behaviour towards them and generally just recognise their value and rights. It's resulted in a very severe and sudden social lurch and I don't completely blame young men for being confused.

I've spoken about it before on here, but when you combine the fact that young men have historically unprecedented access to explicit and pornographic images and then scold them for saying something even mildly sexual or forward about a woman, that is a severely conflicting set of internal instructions they have to juggle at a time in their life when the hormones are practically leaking out of their eyeballs. Being a teenager was already confusing enough when I was growing up, this is a whole other level entirely and I'm glad I'm not growing up now.

I wish there was a way of showing young men that there is a middle ground between the sort of deranged aggression towards women promoted by goblins like Tate and sitting quietly on your own hoping for a woman to initiate contact. There's plenty of ways to be confident, communicate with women and have positive and healthy relationships with them, but that is being utterly drowned out by the infinite amount of online rabbit holes that technology has created. I don't think humanity is emotionally mature enough to handle this stuff and I'm worried that technology is truly starting to outpace our capacity to manage and filter new information in a way that's positive and reasonable

Indeed. I'd broadly describe myself as a supporter of markets while being socially liberal, and they lost any appeal to me a long time ago. If you describe yourself as socially liberal and still backed May and her "hostile environment" war on "citizens of nowhere" then you have a skewed perception of socially liberal.

Used to work with one of them. Sound enough lad on the surface, built like a Greek statue. Thoroughly 1 dimensional as a person though. All he ever talked about was his workout routine and diet.

A girl I know was obsessed with him. Had to tell her he’d probably drive her mad.
Imagine going around on a dinner date and he’s serving kale smoothies for dinner with blueberry protein bars for dessert.
Then has you both running the bleep test in his back yard for entertainment. Be arsed? :lol:
 
It just goes to show that the Tories can't currently assemble a voting coalition worth a damn. It's all very well them saying after the recent elections "there's clearly no love for Starmer or Labour" but both go doubly so for the Tories or Sunak. Whatever tiny rump vote Sunak still commands across the electorate is static and he can't move one way or the other without shedding more support. It's glorious because he keeps trying, and then a week or so later is always down another 2% against Labour.

When I see these mad electoral calculus results that show their recent polling could results in about 30 MPs returned, I keep swinging between "No way, too good to be true, could never happen, polls always tighten as we get closer" and "Why not? Sunak has lost the entire Boris base and isn't doing enough to win back the One Nation lot, and if any government in recent times deserve to have their support totally detonated it's surely this lot after the damage they've inflicted, on purpose, on the country."

In all seriousness a lot of your observations sound aligned with the stuff I've read and heard on the incel issue in the states, contrapoints did some really good takes on it.

One major indicator, as previously mentioned, is the sudden influx of teenagers in gyms. I stopped going for a few years before returning in 2022 and I noticed a huge change.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing (although annoying), but when you understand the influences and overall larger movement it paints a worrying picture.
