How’s the national debt doing lately ?14 years not long enough to fix 13 years of fiscal incompetence.

Too right mate! Why should Labour, if they win, get to start off with a clean slate? The Conservatives didn't in 2010. They took over when the nations finances were in an absolute state, forcing them to make difficult decisions in order to eliminate a horrific deficit. The previous Labour regime are largely responsible for the current, terrible state of our nations finances. Let them try and fix what they started.
You're drawing a parallel that implies that Labour are "largely" responsible for the global financial crash of 2008, and also that they did it on purpose to make Cameron's life a bit harder once he got in.
Did you mean to do that?
That response didn't take long... the Labour defence for that time period is 'global issues beyond our control'. Yet, the Conservatives have had global issues to contend with... Covid, war in Ukraine, yet those are not recognized by the left / Labour as mitigating factors into recent performance by the government.
2019, the deficit was coming down nicely until Covid hit. If it wasn't for Covid, I think the defict could now be gone and the debt would be coming down.
Before blaming the "global financial crash of 2008", the previous Labour government inherited a budget surplus, which they turned into a deficit, before the financial crash. The financial crash just made it worse.

It's not as though they ALL don't have form for this exactly.Okay as you're not answering questions I'll just go ahead and assume you realise just how stupid and indefensible your post was and are now trying to distract from it by going off on a tangent & moving goalposts.
So to save time we'll all agree to accept your concession that Labour weren't responsible for the crash and also didn't do it on purpose to frustrate Tory rule, and therefore the parallel you tried to draw is complete tosh.

I find a background level of ridicule and laughing in their faces helps keep things on an even keel. Sort of like a good 25 minute a day walk at a brisk pace, good for the humours, keeps the zest and zeal for life up. And reminds them that their number is soon up. Imagine being such a douche that farage is your hero. It'd be pitiful if it wasn't so funny.I assume this poster is a bit embrarrased with themselves this evening as they clearly don't want to revisit the post in question. You're right, same thing all the time. They say an incredibly stupid thing, then when pulled up on it toss out some easily argued-against bait so that the conversation moves on quickly and the idiocy they posted is lost a few pages back.
I'd turn the screw a bit more to see them squirm, but really it doesn't achieve anything. Far better people to engage with out there than this clown.
To be fair that accusation can be leveled at anyone who has joined in the last 2 1/2 years....But in all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if you're a Kopite WUM. You show all the hallmarks:
- Overly 'blue' username
- Joined in May last year (when we were looking likely to be relegated)
- Doesn't let anyone their his profile

It's an enticing prospect, but I can't get too excited. I'm also suspicious of their motives. Have a feeling they'll be campaigning for a new leader hard soon. So we'll see Boris touted, mad shouts for Farage and a probable backing of Badenoch.
The circus continues.
