Current Affairs The Conservative Party

Tories to this day say without irony ‘but Abbott’ ‘but corbyn’ etc. It’s a way of absolving themselves of responsibility for the current mess.
A mess would be an accident, this is a very slow murder, planned and precise, corruption, lies, and intimidation? Who are we to complain to? They own are the cops, they are the judicial system, the law doesn't apply. A very slender veneer of media based respectability. What will be the surprises at the end of their term...

This is the argument advanced (since the divorce) every time he gets one of these loans or donations though, and as mentioned above he has just got another million donation on top of his speaking engagements, plus advances and royalties for books delivered (and not delivered), journalistic income and his actual wage.

He doesn't spend his money on cars, homes (the Bamfords have loaned him two of theirs), smart clothes, expensive tech or indeed anything obvious that might explain why he burns through so much money (that renovation of no.10 for example cost under £120000 and the state probably paid 25% of it). There is not much evidence that he has accumulated any assets or savings of any other kind, and even his numerous holidays often turn out to be donations or one kind or another. In fact I'd bet Carrie has more assets than he does and has done so throughout their relationship (the fight remember was in her flat when he'd ruined her things).

From his reported income, Johnson should not need this much support - but he does. IMHO he either has a much more expensive family situation (we know of at least one kid who he is probably on the hook for a five figure monthly sum plus public schools fees for) or he is an addict of one kind or another (gambling being the traditional one for a layabout toff of course).

There is a good comparison to be made with Blair, who also received a lot of money via means often questionable after leaving office. Even with the opaque nature of his accounting, you can see what Blair has done with the money (invested it in property or put offshore mostly).
I agree he does seem to smash through money without seeming to have anything to really show for it (that we know of). He does have at least 7 kids that we know of with a strongly rumoured 8th one out there too which must cost him a fair bit. Four of them are young adults but he could be still spending a lot on them as well as the young ones. They’ve probably got full time nannies and housekeepers, nursery/school fees etc

There will be a number of trusts set up for his platoon of offspring, their educations and livelihoods setup to avoid as much tax as possible before they got out of nappies. It's whether they make it out of eton and up the greasy pole (ahem) of westminster that is the pending nightmare.

I did read that he's supporting one child at university and a couple of others at private school.

That'll cost. I also recall an article about him being hacked off with his PMs salary. Couldn't afford a nanny and suchlike.

Can't imagine he schelps it at the local cafe and aldi either.

Posho world is a different world I rather suspect.

That is just your opinion and that of other Remainers. My points were cogently put - it's your problem if you (and others) do not have the capacity to understand equivalence. Do you REALLY know what that is, Tory man, or will you just equivocate as usual?

As for this: '...If the country needs to defeat the Luftwaffe we'll call you...' Please explain this snide remark. A little history lesson: the Luftwaffe was defeated in 1945 by the Allied nations. The Luftwaffe became our allies in the 1950s when it was reconstituted under NATO. Do keep up...

Back to your bedroom and bite on your blanket, Mr. Bitter...
That £350 will be arriving any minute now. Don't worry.

I think he's saying you're stuck in nostalgic flag waving jingoistic glory days of yesteryear.

Couldn't be sure, but that's my guess.

That's not true is it?

I'm certainly not. That S*n-reader attitude is absolutely abhorrent to me. I'd abolish the monarchy (but it will never happen because the top strata of society see the monarchy as one of the bulwarks of their retaining power in this country - there's no way they will allow the status quo in that respect to be challenged/changed at all), abolish the Hose of Lords, and I hope I live to see the Tory Party absolutely demolished at the General Election next year.

BUT, Bruce is alluding to something else completely different. It is a snide remark in a way. Read the exchange between me and COYBL25 on pages 257 & 258 of this thread and all will be revealed: https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/the-got-book-club.9758/page-257
