That's because it was an emergency so we had to create a separate department to process them. The numbers we were expecting were staggering.

I get the impression that a good portion of the ministers aren't that interested in the job.
They are routinely described as disinterested in the job and the hard work associated with it. Especially this current crop.
Braverman particularly seems the sort who is gearing herself up for far right podcast/GB news style job before stocking up the far right in America.
It's a much easier and more lucrative way to make money.
I often think this. They will get paid a lot less than their peers from Oxford and Cambridge for sure.
There is definitely something to be said for an MP role and especially a ministerial role where you are positioned to affect public life and legislation.
Were you so minded you can make significant changes to the way the UK is run. However it takes time, hard work and compromise.
