That part should be funded by a windfall tax off the energy companies profits, tell me if normal working/ not working families can afford bills up to and some cases more than £5000 per year.
I’m agreeing with, but as it was intended it was a policy to cover everyone

The economy is not wrecked. We had problems with the £ and Gilt %. They will resolve themselves. The U.K. economy is fine and growing. The only thing that will slow it down is union strikes and the BBC and co trying to run us down. The government is screwed, Truss made a mess of the mini budget, but where were the permanent secretaries within our rolls royce civil service who advise them. A lot has gone wrong but it can all be fixed…..
Yes, let's trust the Tories to put out the fires they lit themselves.

No need to worry about the stuff that's turned to ash already.

I agree. When they stitched up Boris for their own personal ambitions I gave up with my own MP and vowed never to vote again for him. Boris always supported his ministers, very few changes were made during his tenure, good team management. Unfortunately Sunak, Javid etc saw an opportunity to try for the big job, and basically screwed up the country in doing so ending up with the lightweight known as Truss.

I will shed no tears if they all get turfed out, I’ve said so many times, we need a completely new set of politicians….

Quite a few never supported Boris though

The country is in contraction, which is the opposite of growing.

Wreck might be a bit dramatic, but we have a deficit approaching 100% of GDP. It's a big problem mate.

I honestly have no idea what working people going on strike have to do with this. My partner was on strike recently. It's not people like us who have caused this mess Pete. We are the victims of it. I'd love to see a Tory MP come to my house and try that schtick and try to insult me and my family with that nonsense.

We will probably recover, it's a great country, but it's going to be a lot more difficult. You can minimise the pound and gilts, but it means we are having to pay more in terms of day to day items, and more on mortgages. No idea if you're a mortgage holder, but when our fix comes up, it is going to be horrendous. I'm still not sure how we will afford it.

But hey, if my partner goes on strike for a pay rise a tiny fraction of the increase in mortgages, she/we are the problem?

Worth noting, tory MPs always give themselves a substantial wage rise too (way beyond the plebs like us get, the mugs who have to work to provide the money for them).

Its woeful, and I think a lot of people are at their wits end, and just cant hear "oh it might get better". A tory MP better stay away from our house come election time.

Pete, you are such a wag! Lmao! More of this guff, please. Great to have you back on form

Anyway Ladies and Gents, enjoy your evening crowing over the demise of Truss, and slag off the Tories to your hearts content. But remember this, they will still be in charge for at least the next two years…I’m off to bed…..

I'm genuinely baffled at this. The run on the pound, and gilts spiralling has:
1) Caused mortgages to sky rocket
2) deflated the currency so added to inflationary costs
3) led to the BOE having to waste 20bn buying junk securities to uphold the system.

How are we paying that 20bn back? And how are people going to afford their mortgages? I'm very interested in how this supposedly just works out. Maybe I'll tell that to the bank.

Absolutely deluded with no self awareness at all, congrats Pete on yet another whopper.

I'm not being horrible mate, but you predicted Donald Trump would win, and Johnson would not be deposed. So I'll trust my own judgement on what events may or may not happen.

It's a poor look to crow over peoples misery too. Unnecessary.
