An automatic windfall tax on financial institutions shorting the pound at around 200% of any profits would be nice addition to the mix.

A lot of financial firms are not UK firms so why should they not? Would we be prickly if a British firm shorted the dollar? Is the bloke who shorted the housing market a villain? If people gain insider information, as might possibly be the case with the Tories then the book should very much be thrown at them, but just punishing supposedly "unpatriotic behaviour" would be a bit totalitarian.

So almost all of the mini-budget has now been reversed by Hunt. However the cuts to public services which were to pay for all the tax cuts will remain, but likely be deeper to rectify the damage done to the economy.

Crippling austerity to be imposed on the country by a government with no mandate, for their own mismanagement of the economy.

It's obvious that Hunt is functioning as PM and that Truss is there to make cheese. She is incompetent PM. There is no credible political reason for the UK to accept another ordained Tory PM when Truss steps down.

There should be a general election. As we have a government that cannot execute policy and U-turns every five minutes because previous actions cause chaos then it's clear that the government is completely dysfunctional and needs to go.

Just replacing the figurehead at the top is not sufficient to restore credibility or functionality. And frankly all the Conservative brand has left to offer from their party is more ERG cultist buffoonery who simply and emphatically cannot act in the national interest.

A Conservative Party out of ideas, out of touch, out of credibility. For the good of the country, it needs to address the entryism and to do that they need to leave government and sort themselves out top to bottom. So to let the people have their say about who should govern. The country is in a complete mess and is an international laughingstock because of these muppets in charge of us all.

The only thing I would say on those figures is that I think quite a lot of voters in Scotland who used to always vote Labour, will vote Labour again if they think Labour are going to win the election. That could bring down the SNP seats.

The tories are still going to get over a hundred seats though , even in a catastrophic election for them
