Current Affairs The Conservative Party

Not sure he's a floating voter, Bruce. He's been a member of the Tory Party for 56 years, actively.campaigned for them since 1966, and never said he'd consider not voting for them, despite his problems with the current leadership.
Yeah, I'd be interested in his views on the Cameron years and Austerity. Suspect he's what would be described as a 'one nation' Tory and grew up in the post war era of cross party consensus around the Welfare State.

Probably should lay down in a darkened room for enjoying Morgan but he was on the money here, and the audience openly laughed at Government minister.

It's interesting watching them now. Under the buffoon, if they said stupid things, they would disappear from public view for a while (I mean, Rees Mogg was invisible during the whole general election) and boris would bluster his way through anything thrown at him and fall back on vaccine rollout etc.

Now, that they have a cruel and callous leader and what they are saying matches her anyway, they are exposed and noone is protecting them. Even the right wing bells like PM are going in on them.

One of Boris' big mistakes was removing all the remainers from cabinet and filling it with people who wanted a hard brexit because they are primarily far right nuts (which while I don't like Boris, he at least kept them generally more towards the centre than they are now). As they stabbed him in the back and now taken control and we are left with the cruel and vindictive mob in charge.

I honestly believe (hope) we have reached a turning point with this vile party and they will be utterly smashed at the next election. This last fortnight has seen their economic credibility collapse. They were always hard right on social matters. The icing on the cake would be Farage reappearing if and when Truss has to do a deal with the EU to break that impasse. Then it's game over....

Much of the Tory vote like to punch down as long as someone else on the negative end, people coming over the channel people on benefits, as long as they are getting tougher life, everyday is just one big hard on.

However, when it's them at the coal face, hell have no fury like a Tory vote scorned and that has what Truss and Kwarteng have done.

It's why much of their normally friendly media is now jumping ship to protect themselves, the likes of Dale and Ferrari of LBC have been relentless in their mocking of this new government. The tide has certainly changed.

People like him are probably the floating voter that Labour need to attract.
Do floating voters attend conferences? The great number of folk who not only see the cruelty of the tories but call them out on and still find the mental gymnastics to vote for them astonishes me. I have to admit given the new levels of cruelty of the right wing I have lost all patience with such people, I used to defend their character as decent people but voting for this conservative party sees you as cruel, selfish and bigoted or just plane ignorant and conditioned. No more middle ground can be offered to them, the consequences are too great.
