They most likely know that they won't be getting another term so are effectively sabotaging the economy to kill the next gov.
To be honest, I just think they are filling there pockets.
They know they are going to lose the next election, and probably the one after that. Looking at 10+ years in opposition. This is nothing but a cash grab. Truss probably can't believe her luck. 2 years to make her and her cronies a stack of cash.

Corbyn was on Radio 4's 'in Conversation with' show yesterday evening. Was quite funny hearing the discussion about how he was panned for 'reckless' borrowing yet Truss et al get way less flak.

And he's absolutely right, why borrowing for infrastructure and social good attacked and borrowing to pay for a cash grab not?

Folk seem very confident we'll see the back of the Tories at the next election, but I'm really not so sure.

In fairness Truss and Kwarteng have taken a pasting from pretty much everyone over the “mini budget”. Don’t think I’ve seen pretty much anyone outside of their inner circle saying it’s a good idea

I agree. They'll find some non-issue (like a seperate transgender toilets in public venues) to rail against and snatch a victory.
Besides, even if they lose, they'll take up a well-paid seat with one of these ''think-tanks'' or at their related corporate interests. They don't care.

Kwasi Kwarteng is making sure he's going to be remembered for years to come. Will he still smile when the BoE announces another rise in november?

Unfortunately the 'inner circle' hold a lot of sway.
I agree completely. But I think (or maybe naively hope) that the inner circle has become smaller very quickly. We’re not even a month in and most of her MPs didn’t even want her in the first place. Now she’s set fire to the economy for the benefit of a very small percentage of the population. Feels a bit like her and Kwarteng are doing a rug pull. Fill the pockets of their rich mates in the two years they have and then get compensated massively once they are turfed out of government. It’s either that or they are complete morons which is also a very strong possibility

Yeah, I hope so too. But I'm completely pessimistic about what what a lot of folk will swallow in the UK.
