Nobody wants to admit it, but the Tories have made Britain a whole lot poorer

After 12 years of Conservative government, all the UK has to offer is slow growth and low productivity

Thursday saw the fifth attempted suicide from one of the local bridges near where I live, I'm aware that one was successful*. I can't lay the reasons for this sudden spate at the hands of the tories and the fear inducing media they string along, but there's something in the air and I suspect this cloud is going to get darker before things turn. I've made light of the oncoming winter elsewhere, but not here, I hope and pray this winter is kind because I can see it claiming more lives than covid did in europe in total.
People are frightened, and despair and frustration often spill out in a number of ways. We're in for a rough time. Those that have presided over this nightmare ought to be accountable when the moment comes.

Back in 2016 I worked in a wwll respected health research department at a heavyweight University. A colleague presented her research on suicide, self-harm, suicide attempts and suicidal ideation. Statistically all had increased significantly amongst all age groups since 2010 and the advent of austerity.

Now, such things aren't monocausal and a variety of factors influenced thoughts, feelings and actions. However the findings (mixed methods, so featuring qualitative interviews) all pointed to the additional layer of hardship being the straw that broke the camels back.

So your observation does not surprise me in the slightest.

This must be getting reported incorrectly or overstated. Place Group are a minuscule company employing two people engaged in education programmes. They have no complex project management background for the work to achieve net zero that I can see…unless the government are just hiring the guy in charge for some purpose…..

I mean you'd think it has to be some administrative foible and they're actually overseeing a marketplace worth £70 billion, but tbh even that seems absurd enough.
