As said above, he's only been here a shorter time and now off us see him in training. The lad has just had his first season in the Premier league, from league 1. I doubt it was expected, for him to have played this season. If anything this season has been fantastic, for bringing the young lads on. I think he's had some good games and off course scored a goal.

To compare him to Jeffers who was playing every week with either Super Kev or Big Dunc to look after him isn't fair.

5 year deal for someone who's been largely unimpressive.

I hate to think what the lads in the academy who are working their way through the ranks from the earliest age reckon to that.

Seems to me this thread is a just a duplicate waste of time, people don't take the poll seriously so just add comments and regurgitate the same stuff as in the DCL thread = Dupilcate thread .

The manager must see something in him, I think we have seen it in parts on the pitch to be fair, hopefully he continues to progress and becomes a real force, but any player is a gamble

It's laughable to compare him to Jeffers & Cadamarteri at the same age. Both played in their preferred position, it was 20 years ago, and both played in systems where they could afford to be a lot more one dimensional in their game.

He's not banging them in like Jeffers Mk1 but he's a hell of a lot better than Jeffers Mk2 and if you take off the rose tinted glasses then you realise that Cadamarteri didn't have a good goalscoring record and was a FIFA-esque pace babby who went completely off the rails when he got found out.....as much as I enjoyed watching him turn Fatty Ruddock inside out.

I'll gladly take DCL having a couple more developmental years if it means we get a good player in the long term. Don't see the point in loaning him out if we're hoping to have a stab at 3 cups and a good league finish.

he's obviously doing something in training to suggest he has it, but just not showing it YET on the pitych, maybe it's because he;s out of position and mainly starts against teams were he won't have as much as a kick, got to give the lad a chance like but for me personally I don't understand why he has signed a new deal after only just signing given his performances ON the pitch.

hope he smashes it like

Depends what he's like in direct comparison to the academy lads. If he's distinctly better than them in training or the U23's then maybe it'll make them realise what's needed to crack the first team. Or maybe they'll see it as a sign that young players, such as Davies and DCL, do have a chance at Everton if they work at it.

Edit - DCL not SCL!

I think the £40,000 a week is putting a lot of people against the lad, he has nothing to do with that, if it's true he's not going to knock it back is he!.

Like Eggs says give him a chance, He is a big strong lad who I think will get better, maybe needs a little bit of devil added
to his game, he is good in the air, has good ball control and will look better as a striker not a winger, which he isn't and finally I think he will reach £40,000 a week over time not right away.

They're probably thinking "if I work a bit harder, I'll get a chance in the first team and earn a better contract" those ungrateful little scamps :)
