Definitely the strangest start of the ashes/possibly any tournament.

It's like it appeared and disapeared in the blink of an eye.

The fact this thread is already down to page 4 sums up how crazy it is.

It's a form of entertainment, I believe. Nothing wrong with that but it's not cricket. My old dad is turning in his grave.

Test match cricket has always been the mark of a players true cricketing skills, IMO…

ODI, and especially T20 (particularly the Indian Premier League) is where all the money is unfortunately, and that’s why players prefer to focus on those formats.

They couldn’t give a toss about tradition.

Interesting comments came out last year from ex NZ coach Andy Moles regarding McCullum. Now you could take these with a pinch of salt as Moles didn't do very well in his job, to the point where he was pushed out of the role and Daniel Vettori took over as player coach for a stint. Or it could be true. McCullum certainly changed his tact on the field following the tragedy of Phill Hughes and this was before that, but it's an interesting insight into "brand McCullum".

Cummins was borderline, but will be all the better for sitting this one out.
