I think the biggest thing is that the team have been in positions to win a number of times and blown it. It's happened repeatedly, and suggests an inability to learn.

There's a difference between an inability and an unwillingness to learn.

I'm really peed off. Circumstances had it I was home alone Sunday Arvo my time, so this morning I got...as there's no cricket you can do...and...and while I'm out

I actually got a whole heap of things done around the house that wouldn't have got done if the match was still on

They've been like this for the last few years. They'll end up throwing this series like they did the last Ashes and India in the summer. It's frustrating as we have genuinely world class players.

Interesting comments came out last year from ex NZ coach Andy Moles regarding McCullum. Now you could take these with a pinch of salt as Moles didn't do very well in his job, to the point where he was pushed out of the role and Daniel Vettori took over as player coach for a stint. Or it could be true. McCullum certainly changed his tact on the field following the tragedy of Phill Hughes and this was before that, but it's an interesting insight into "brand McCullum".

Definitely the strangest start of the ashes/possibly any tournament.

It's like it appeared and disapeared in the blink of an eye.
