I remember being in a mall as a kid over there and just being amazed that there were hundreds of guns racked up on the wall of a shop.

I'd never seen a gun in my entire life before then.

I'll start a UK thread about gun crime when it's a weekly occurrence.

You statement is being a little light on the true number of gun deaths. The news only reports the ones involving multiple deaths or famous people but there's about 30 people murdered daily by guns in the US just that they're not newsworthy people

The left in america doesn't have a rep for hating gays or muslims (note I'm not saying everyone on the right does either)

I do understand why americans are apprehensive about fire arm ban though, if i lived over there and everyone else had a gun id probably lean towards getting one for self protection as well, would seem kind of stupid to be the only guy who doesn't have one for protection. Im a lefty as well.

Don't have one and don't intend on getting one. But then I'm English so guns aren't normalised to me like they are the "natives". To keep my kids safe I'd have to have it stored in a safe, if my house ever got invaded I'd have to be in the right room to stand a chance of getting the gun out in enough time. If I could get mounted machine gun on my car then that's probably what I'd go for, would be more use in reality.
