In the US there's been a definite 'militarisation' of the police.
In addition to the shooting in Florida. Read about these two incidents today.
No reading of their 'miranda rights' or even telling them they're under arrest. Just straight into violence.
I read somewhere that some in the police treat any resistance or questioning as a sign of non-compliance which justifies to them use of force.
However, a lot of them are not finding they're facing charges for breaching people's civil rights.
America really has problems. Too many guns. Police brutality seems to be occuring far too frequently. It appears the reality of what is happened is getting distorted institutionally.
I'm normally someone who would 100% back the police but watching/reading some of this totally unjustifiable stuff gives me pause for thought.
Surely, someone has a right to ask a police officer 'why are you detaining or arresting me?'. In these two cases neither officer has given a satisfactory answer.
Timothy Runnels, stopped then demanded that the 17 year old get out of the vehicle without giving a reason. He then tasered Bryce Masters for over 20 seconds. He was unconcious and his heart stopped. But in the meantime the officer dragged him handcuffed to the side of the road and dropped him on his face. Breaking his jaw. All the while he was dying. So he put his foot on his back and it was only responders later arriving that saw he was dying and gave him CPR. Its left him with brain damage.
Police say Masters was pulled over because of a warrant attached to the license plate of the vehicle and was combative when ordered to get out.
This was all lying. No warrant was on HIS PARENTS or THEIR CAR.
Basically they couldn't give any reasonable justification for it.

The other even more disturbing case was this one.
'Deven Guilford, 17-years-old, driving home from home from church. A car approached Deven with his brights on, Deven flashed his lights as a courtesy. It was an Eaton County Sheriff's Deputy trolling for tickets, who then turned on his police lights. Deven cannot believe that he is being pulled over for being polite. He questions the officer about the stop and then asks for a supervisor. At which point, Officer Frost, grabs Deven out of the car, slams him on the ground, kicks away his camera phone. And starts to stomp and kick the spread eagle boy with his military boots, autopsy show huge bruises on the boy's back. He then tasers Deven before shooting him 7 times.'
Again, this was a false and unjustified traffic stop that led to a 17 year old being shot dead merely for questionning the right of the officer to detain or arrest him. No prior record.
He flashed the police officer with his lights as the officer had his lights on full beam.
The officer denied that - but three other people claim they saw the same officer with them on and they flashed them.
Basically it appears the officer was trumping up false charges against a teenager - probably due to boredom.

Appaling.
Now the black lives matter campaign is something I'm aware of. However, its clear that there are major issues in policing in the USA in general.
Shoot first ask questions (if you are lucky) later.
Everything taken to extreme in the US.
'Wrongful arrest' ... 'False imprisonment' etc etc
Seem to be words forgotten. Police detaining and arresting people without proper cause seems to be more widespread than people realise.
