Texas and Florida are on a diabolical competition to out-fascist each other. I am convinced that making comparisons to “the good side” of Hitler will become normalized by Republicans in the coming weeks.
They aren't trying to "out-fascist" each other. Those states are huge attraction for conservatives around the country to settle down in, from especially California and these states are trying their best to attract those conservative into their states and their businesses to move in too.

At the manufacturer, at school, at the hospital, at a restaurant, at church, at the supermarket, at a university, at a concert, at a birthday party, on the road, the list goes on and on. Everywhere, in this country there is no a safe place from gun violence. I’m tired of being sad and starting to be just mad about this situation and Congress (the senate specifically) incompetence on this issue. I’m going out on Saturday to March again against gun violence, even though it is probably not going to make a difference, I still think people need to come in masses and express our dissatisfaction with the current situation. If it is not know then when do make changes to our absurd gun laws.

My father doesn't really believe in "mental illness", he used to tell me how it was all the power of the devil. In Texas, loads of people believe in things like "demonic possession". As I'm sure you probably have heard the saying "gun doesn't kill people, it's the evil that kills people".
I find it astonishing that people still fear the devil! It feels like some throwback to medieval England

That's a bit condescending. You are telling me that you have never met anybody who feared the devil in your entire life?
You were saying your dad use to talk about the devil, that is something that just does not happen in the UK. Even the few church goers I know ( I know two familes in my social circle) are well above the idea of the devil lurking if they fail to fulfill their faux deities requests.

There's plenty on here that are convinced the rs sold the shankly red soul to the gentleman in question back in 1969*

*oh some may quibble about the actual date but not the fact of the deal

It happens fairly regularly with the serious kooks and they are made to apologize (which they don't, really). Soon, as you say, they might not be made to.
