I can understand these rules from the NRA.

Because if my child had just been slaughtered by someone, I would be going to their rally with the most rapid fire weapon I could find and shooting all of them in attendance.

I would then just claim my second amendment rights in defence.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott does the same thing, parroting the "mental health" line after each tragedy.

Texas is 50th among 50 states in access to mental health services. Last month, Gov Abbott and the GOP-controlled State Legislature cut $211 million from the budget of the state agency that oversees mental health. The largest provider of mental health services in the state? The Harris County (Houston) jail.
