Can't see that getting more public outcry than shooting a class of kindergartners, and their teacher hovering over them in a vain attempt to shield them. At least, I hope not.
Yep the shootings of little boys and girls, I can't see how someone can top that. If the sandy hook disgusting massacre does not change the policy nothing will.

Not from the public but it might change a few politicians minds, iirc there were one or two that changed their opinions on gun control for those with a history of mental illness in the wake of gongresswoman Giffords shooting.
 
I was talking to my colleagues about this today. I actually share the view that this (while still a terror attack of sorts) was a homophobic attack at its very heart.
This did not go down well with my Texan colleagues.
I let them know, I felt the press coverage of this was too quick to point the finger at terrorism and I felt this was massively over played. I felt the attack itself was entirely homophobic, yet the US doesn't want the view that it's a closed society to come to the forefront of peoples minds.
Again, it was not very well received.
 
with the reports now coming out that the shooter was gay himself it moves more towards a homophobic attack in my opinion.
