I was going to say “If this is true, someone needs a serious arse kicking“ but that doesn’t really do the seriousness of the failings justice. I am not usually lost for words, but this I can’t comprehend…….
The supreme court said that the police don't HAVE to respond to anything. This is just par for the course for them

Imagine the gun owners of today's US submitting to such as this:

TBF that is what "well-regulated" meant at the time and it has not changed so much since. Make it voluntary, but that sort of thing (organizing what arms a militiaman should have, how much ammunition etc) is precisely how someone should be able to keep firearms at home - as a defence not only for themselves and their families but for their neighbour, their county, state and country.

I mean, it has the immense legal advantage (compared to incrementalist bans / reforms) of being what the second amendment actually says.

Sure. Of course. "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state", however, has been ignored by the "Originalists" and the 40% of the population that control the US Senate thanks to that sweet, sweet NRA money and an arcane election system.

Further, a massive, massive chunk of gun owners in the US would never in a million years submit to the requirements of a militia in order to keep their precious guns. Frankly, I wouldn't either. I'd hand 'em in first.

I’m American and I don’t understand. The second amendment says we have the right to bear arms in order to maintain a militia, not shoot up elementary schools.
So you are against the 2nd amendment and support it being repealed?
