Not that I can see. Nothing was done after Sandy Hook and loads of people on the right believed it was a false flag operation.

It will be hard to change, but it can be done.

The sensible side of things needs a far higher standard of politician behind it though, the failures of the current regime have to be retired as soon as possible - the old ways of trimming loopholes and whatnot must not be tried again. The 2A needs to be engaged with on what it actually says and then someone has to develop an understanding of it that brings the least opposition from gun owners and constitutionalists whilst also dealing with what is a clearly unsustainable and horrifying spree of killing sprees.

For nearly 200 years there was no understanding of the Second Amendment giving unfettered right to guns. That's a modern revision thanks to the "Originalists" and, as you say, the gun manufacturers and its lobbying arm, the NRA.
