How someone can have the ability to shoot a 9 year old and a 5 year old just 'kin astounds me.
Not to justify what he has done at all but my guess would be CTE. You have to have some serious problems to be able to do that and we know that many, many former (and almost certainly current) American footballers have this problem from years of either undiagnosed or ignored concussions. And this is my own personal conjecture but the fact the doctor he killed had been treating him could also suggest he was having difficulties and maybe saw him as the cause of them. Or as failing to help him with them.

Again, not trying to defend or excuse what he has done as that is impossible, just trying to add some possible context. There is a very interesting documentary about former NFL player Aaron Hernandez that sheds some light on this sort of situation.

Sadly the number killed has risen to 6 as one of the other workmen shot has succumbed to his injuries. Thankfully they are going to test for CTE.
The brain of Phillip Adams, the former NFL player identified as the gunman who fatally shot six people Wednesday in Rock Hill, S.C., will be examined for chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a brain disease found in dozens of former players.

Forensic autopsies typically do not identify CTE, but York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said her office will work with Boston University, whose CTE center has studied the disease for more than a decade, to determine whether Adams had the disease, she said in a statement.

The USA truly is a messed up place. Surely they can see that they are the nation where more citizens own guns per capita than any where else in the world and have more mass killings than anywhere else in the world.. how is the solution more guns?
People have been lied to for too long. The solution to a lot of America's problems is to just stop the damn lying, but it won't happen because too many have too much to gain from a continuence of the status quo.
