It's always the ones who claim they need guns to protect themselves from a tyrannical government who go completely silent when the jackboot of the state lands on someone's throat.
The "great" thing there is they charged the man with attempted murder of a police officer. You know, the people who wrongly entered a domicile in a state where your are allowed to use lethal force to defend yourself.
This country is really so [Poor language removed]...
Kind of. Yes they did but it was predicated on false information. If you read the cops reasonings is really bad. They were granted a no knock warrant but they decided to knock on the door 5 times and then went in find blazing? They had a search warrant didn't they ?
They had a search warrant didn't they ?
The brother was trying to rob a house, right @Specials?
No man, ths is a different case. It isn't a fully grown man repearsdly trespassing on an unguarded construction site at night.
If they've forced the door and then not declared their presence, well they really don't have a leg to stand on and went against all standard training, you'd suspect. They did, but this exact situation is all that Castle doctrine / right to bear arms to defend your home from burglars leads to.
If he didn’t know they were cops (which that report strongly suggests) and genuinely thought he was at risk there is no way he should be convicted.

A no-knock warrant is an equivalent to many of our warrants where you do not need to announce by knocking etc., but are able to force entry to the premises.Apparently it was a no-knock warrant and they were in plain clothes.
