Even if they were not legally purchased I think it's safe to assume he got one with relative ease compared to how a European would go about getting one.

In all seriousness, I could leave my house right now and be home with 5 new guns (legally purchased) in less than an hour. Buying a beer is more difficult than buying a gun in this country.

It will forever be a complete mystery to folk this side on the pond why that can happen.

They block any attempts at strong guns laws...it's ridiculous.

I'm not wishing to step into another country's politics, but regardless of the current strength of the lobby, the lobby is only as strong as the politicians allow surely?

If the politicians could only act on principal not at the behest of lobby groups, (i) we'd have some semblance of democracy and (ii) situations such as this might not arise.

I know.

Said it before. They could pass as many rules as they like, fact is, there are gazillions of legally owned guns anyrate, and it is ingrained into the psyche (some) of the country have that it is a right to have them.

Might as well ban steak.

It's mad isn't it? I find it really quite strange when British people don't criticise the legal status of guns in America. That's weirder than Americans who don't, surely.
