Not sure sometimes if Non-Americans grasp the amount of gun violence over here as most shooting don't make news and if they do they only make regional news. Takes a lot for a shooting to make national news, never mind international. This is one such "local" incident from New York state that I wouldn't have seen anywhere near my news.

It would probably be mind boggling to people who live in places like the UK, I agree. Baltimore has had 242 homicides this year so far and most of them are shootings. Typically they have at least double that in non-fatal shootings. It is so common that to put it all on the news wouldn't leave time for anything else. So we have homicides that get a paragraph or two in the local paper and maybe 15 seconds on the local TV news. It's insane.

This was a block from my house. Unfortunately, shootings are not uncommon.

I counted 18 police cars......

Is it safe to say that if the people who commit these shootings would do it with bats / knives if guns are banned?

Or just cowards using a powerful weapon going crazy mad?

It's much easier and less personal to shoot a person from a distance, rather than to get in close with a knife and use it, so yes I think it would lower - to an extent.

It is probably alien to most people in the United Kingdom. Here in Liverpool, we've had a shooting spree recently of a total of five shootings in six separate days.

Not all of these have involved people being actually shot (rather aiming at people or buildings) and it will probably reduce to a much lower rate very quickly.

The rest of the United Kingdom, bar a few of the major cities, is pretty much sedate with little or no shootings throughout a calendar year.
