Latest from the pro-gun nuts is correcting people that call the AR-15 a "military grade weapon"

"I think you'll find that the AR-15 is not military grade, but is used mostly by law obiding citizens for hunting and home defence"

Yes, I'm sure that's all the "Assault Rifle-15" is good for...

Once again, the argument boils down to "I want to play with my toys and no amount of dead kids will stop me"

A youth team raffle apparently......unbelieveable......

I was just reading an article that posed a few questions and thoughts. It was mentioned that America has always had guns and indeed in earlier times had an abundance and a visible one at that, yet there were almost no records of school shootings or other such attacks. So the question posed was ‘why now ?’......an answer given was that in most attacks of this nature the assailant may have been a user of drugs, either illegal or prescription drugs capable of altering the mind. I hate guns and cannot understand why people are allowed to have them, but perhaps we are looking in the wrong direction...

Perhaps you could link the article Pete and we can find out what evidence the writer bases their claim that in most attacks the shooter had been a drug user. The typical profile of mass shooters I've seen suggests a history of pot use but not other drugs - domestic violence history has been a lot stronger correlation.

There were historical school attacks, 1890 and 1910s were particularly bad.(Source https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_shootings_in_the_United_States)

School deaths and injuries by shooting in the United States by decade

Haven't seen anyone put into context what you would have expected with general population growth but it certainly feels there has been an increase in recent decades. Doubt it is due to any one single factor although iirc quite a few shooters have said their "inspiration" was Columbine.

I work for an American company and what I don't get is I have to do online training almost every 6 months to be able to spot bribes/kickbacks etc. just so we aren't landed in hot water with the authorities. How can they be so zealous regarding this topic when basically every republican in government is there because of this? They have to bow to their lobbyist paymasters if they want funding for their next election campaign.

Its deffo a combination of things, but the simplest thing is not allowing someone the easiest route possible to commit mass slaughter

She is so thick! I haven't (as yet) seen someone with cocaine take out a whole church with it. Another white powder (anthrax) however that has a potential of killing people is illegal to produce. Maybe she should have used that isn't and then realised what she was putting.
It's beautiful. Because the analogy works if written correctly. Becky does cocaine so you try to stop the supply of cocaine as it ruins lives. Somehow she thinks guns are being punished. Not exactly a rocket scientist.
