How did he get those weapons? I understand that a lot of guns are legal in America, but automatic ones are illegal. Lots of questions to be answered.

But dont semi-automatic ones do the same job on a slightly smaller scale and another poster said they were legal. I dont understand how anything that isnt a handgun is legal. A handgun is surely enough to protect yourself without having the capability to kill tens of people in seconds.

I agree, in my opinion handguns should be the maximum allowed if atall, what I was saying is how did a man with no military experience get an automatic weapon which is illegal.

Pretty sure it was illegal.
Just been researching that as thought the same

From same feed -
In practice, while there are several hundred thousand legally-registered fully-automatic firearms in the US, they're very hard to obtain. Beyond the registration process, which can take up to 9 months to complete, the price of fully-automatic firearms is extremely high. The low end of the fully-automatic firearm market is around 5 figures per gun. I've seen fully-automatic firearms in the $300,00+ range.

Of course, if you have the necessary knowledge, you can illegally modify semi-automatic firearms to be capable of automatic fire.

It's hard to feel sorry for America at times like this if you compare it to other events. Obviously it's absolutely horrific and not people's fault for being there. But when will 'America' get through its thick skull that they need to ban firearms?

Apparently this guy was quite rich so maybe he did get one legally. Doubt he modified one because he had no military experience etc.

You actually think and believe ' banning ' firearms will make the slightest difference ? Really weird comment by you this, bizarre even.

Cocaine is a banned substance. If I really wanted to, I could be sniffing an 8 ball within 30 minutes.

Lets say for arguments sake that ' banning ' firearms was not only possible, but made a difference, go ahead and google Tim McVeigh.
