If ever there was a pointless press conference/ speech it is this one. Most networks won't care anyway. Any act he tries to pass will be shot down or quickly repealed with the next administration.

Those that wouldn't bat an eye-lid were the ones storming the Capitol, calling for the heads of our elected officials and their sympathizers.

Yes we can and should investigate hate groups and the like more as there probably are laws they have broken that they could be LEGALLY tried and imprisoned for. We also need new and/or stronger laws against the activities of such groups so they can be handled legally.

The fact remains - locking up/punishing people that have done nothing illegal is wrong. Period. We are no better if we think or act differently.

We have to do a better job of monitoring online activity and actually taking the threats made there seriously through preemptive action.

No, not at all. I just tried explaining to a couple people Friday that people calling them a group were factually wrong. Still didn't make a difference..

ah ok, the only thing that i have ever come across that suggested it was a group as such is the numerous stories about large donations from Greta Thunbergs family to Antifa in the past. They would have to had given the money to an actual group rather than an ideology but it's only stories at the end of the day no idea how true it is.

TBF there is a considerable degree of sense in not forcing this through and allowing Trump to easily claim (though he might do anyway) that he* has no option but to save the Republic by a revolt.

If his lot aren't going to 25th Amendment him, then make sure he can't do anything for the next nine days and do what Manchin suggested - get Bidens' government in place first and then deal with this. As I've said previously I don't even think they need to set a precedent of locking him up, just have a release of what he's actually done these past four years and then let the GOP explain why it was they went along with it.

Going down the political gesture road (as impeachment will be, at least now) is daft.
