Because that's the problem. What you describe in the movie theater are laws. Twitter didn't delete Trumps tweets because of laws; they did so because of a ToS that they arbitrarily enforce based on public interest. They aren't the same thing, and that is indeed my whole point - that Twitter is regulated like any other private company when the impact of the platform is akin to things usually covered by other points of law.

Pardon my ignorance, what is the longest running democracy on earth then? All that have had democracies longer had been interrupted by some from of authoritarian government.

Actually, i read it as 'oldest democracy' rather than longest running. Longest running is likely to be correct.
