What was your take when the NFL censored Kaepernick?

This was overdue from Twitter given the circumstances but in general corporations censoring speech feels wrong to me.

It was wrong. However the censorship of Kaepernick and Trump are two totally different ends of the spectrum.

I'm all for the censorship of dangerous dickheads who cause all sorts of problems personally. Censoring people who are making a stand against systematic racism or what have you, less so.

That feels like a lifetime ago. I grew up in a strong GOP area but was at school during that and the election. My views changed a lot in that year. Just wild to think about for me.

A private business having ultimate say on who constitutes a "dangerous [Poor language removed]" is the concern though.

What if the owner of Twitter tomorrow was a MAGA nutter and decided AOC was one?

That's the issue - the level of impact such decisions could have, by and large unregulated.

Pence would be my hero tonight if he invokes the 25th amendment before the night is over.

Trump is seriously unfit to stay in office for the next few days. He continues to be a danger to the Republic

Yes different sides to the same question though. I don’t think subjectivity is the right way to go in general as everyone always thinks they’re right. When there’s a situation that someone is endangering safety or threatening entire institutions like Trump was doing, then the ban is totally warranted.

In general corporate censorship is a tricky topic. You asked the initial poster why it felt wrong, and in my opinion it’s because as a general principle, companies shouldn’t be deciding what people do and don’t say.

Think we all agree the Twitter ban was overdue in this case.
