Analysis suggests an increase of as much as 10% in youth voter turnout – with particularly high engagement in 11 key battleground states. That may have been game-changing for Joe Biden, who had the support of 61% of people aged 18-29.
Meanwhile, Justice Democrats and the Sunrise Movement commissioned an analysis of Democrats in swing districts who won and lost races, and it found that, in fact, supporters of Medicare for All did just fine relative to centrists. Correlation =/= causality.
Most likely, the candidates that moved furthest right were running in comparatively conservative swing districts, and should be expected to get a lesser vote share.
Even if proper controls enabled us to conclude that ideology was causal, to my eyeball it likely had a very weak effect.
